Fall 2021 Commencement Information
We look forward with anticipation as plans are underway to have an in-person commencement ceremony this December.
Considering the current local and state guidelines related to COVID-19 for gatherings and events, we have proactively determined to host our fall commencement ceremonies outside.
We will be hosting our fall ceremonies outside at the Fresno Fair Grounds in the Paul Paul Theater. This year we will be including the hooding of our master’s degree students in the main commencement ceremonies.
Here is additional information about the plans currently underway:
On Saturday, December 11, 2021, we will host our commencement ceremonies.
Due to the size and scope of our commencement and the size of the venue, we will be hosting two ceremonies this year and incorporate the hooding of our master’s degree students into these ceremonies.
Ceremonies will be divided by schools. Each of our five schools will be included into one of the two ceremonies. More information will be forthcoming, including a list of schools for each ceremony and the specific ceremony times.
Ceremonies are planned to take place rain or shine, with one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
We are inviting back any student who completed their degree in 2020 and spring 2021 to participate in this December’s ceremonies. We recognize the value of the in-person experience and want to provide the opportunity for those students and their families. Students from fall and spring 2020 and spring of 2021 will need to sign up by September 30 at 11:59pm to be eligible to participate. Late registrations will not be accepted. These students have been emailed information on how to sign up. If you did not receive the email with the sign-up link and feel you should have please email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are a current student who plans to participate in the December ceremony, you must complete your degree application online as part of the Registrar’s office standard operating procedure. The degree application can be completed through MyFPU. The deadline to apply to participate, and to have your name included in the printed program, is September 30.
Currently tickets will not be required for guests to attend the commencement ceremonies, however if state or local guidelines related to COVID-19 change, and we must limit the number of people in attendance, we will provide you with updated information.
We will continue to follow state and local COVID-19 guidelines related to gatherings and events. We will respond accordingly if guidelines and requirements change.
As additional information is available, students will receive an email and this page will also be updated. More than ever, we are excited to host an in-person ceremony again and look forward to the opportunity to celebrate together!
