The pure mathematics emphasis has greater focus on the theoretical foundations of advanced mathematics and includes higher-level courses which are more appropriate preparation for post-graduate studies in mathematics or related areas of study. This emphasis may also be appropriate if you are interested in preparatory studies for teaching mathematics at the college level.
